Oh, god, I am SO DAMN GLAD that whoever-it-was lost the final, I can't tell you. This World Cup comm was the best idea ever, and am I glad I'm a shameless subway voyeur. (Yes, I know this fic is technically Tetley's prize, but I'm going to claim a share. Oh, and I'm sorry to be so late commenting; I didn't realize until I finally got a chance to read that there was a contest and that you'd been so kind as to wait for me.)
This story is such a treat. I'm like Tetley: I could quote the whole thing back -- all the little, lovely meta touches, like Filius's family, and the bland, cliched stories that could be about anyone (have you been reading FFN again? The things people see fit to publish, indeed), and visualizing, and Professor McGonagle, and the One True Theory, and the orange-and-white, and Miss Passive-Aggressive (that's the only part I don't believe, though; no one could be THAT breathy and P.A. and irritating...oh, wait). I love Pansy and Mills, I love the clever, magic quill, and Poppy! Oh, god, Poppy. Be still, my heart.
Lines I love:
If courage were linked to size, that man would top Grawp. “I’m not going to do a Skeeter on people,” Poppy replied acerbically. “I’m going to do a Skeeter on Skeeter.” And Poppy slammed her desk with the force of someone who is quite unused to that sort of thing and therefore doesn’t realize it can seriously hurt. The Truth Beyond ♥♥♥ Filch pronounced with the utter conviction of a man who had checked and double-checked every inch of wantonness on offer and who was sure of his facts Hahaha! And that was so adorable and caring and Mumsy of you, I thought Haha! My dear, you have no idea. And the warnings -- omg.
Finally, it's pretty clear who Rita's paramour is. Lynx and minx, hmmm? Lynx patronus = Kingsley Shacklebolt. And of course, he being who he is now. . . Very clever.
So, okay. Did I, um. . .come first with the answer?
