Betting Stats After Group Stage

Hello, Participants!

It's Tetley, your numerically challenged statistician, with another attempt at a weekly update. Nothing has changed in the leadership, but there has been a little bit of shuffling among the followers.

As it is, [personal profile] vane_nt is still the uncontested Master Guesser with 26 correct predictions, followed by [personal profile] bendleshnitz1 and [personal profile] tetleythesecond with 23 and [personal profile] tjs_whatnot and [personal profile] shocolate with 20. [personal profile] pale_moonlite and [personal profile] ysilme follow with 18 correct guesses each, and [personal profile] kelly_chambliss is steadily catching up with 14.

In terms of correct guesses this week, the crown goes to [personal profile] tjs_whatnot, who totally deserves this honorary mention, what with being the first participant who will definitely have to drabble. (But fear not, many of us will be joining you shortly.)

Right. I'll now close my eyes and hit "post" -- and hope I didn't cheat dear [personal profile] bendleshnitz1 YET another time.
ysilme: Close up of the bow of a historic transport boat with part of the sail. (Fascinating)

Wow, I would never have thought to get so close with my wild - and sometimes patriotic *whistle* - guessing.

Hey, we're neck to neck. Now we'll only have to catch up. *g*
tjs_whatnot: (writing--it mocks me!)

[personal profile] tjs_whatnot 2010-06-26 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
See? I figured out how it worked there in the end!!!

But srsly, what was I thinking?? ITALY?!?!?!?!

Who wants what, drabble wise? Might as well start sharpening my pencils!

[personal profile] pale_moonlite 2010-06-26 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats to the winner of the week. YAY!

Sorry for Italy (okay, not really, but for you *g*). I'll cheer for the US tonight. :)
tjs_whatnot: (Escher--ball)

YAY!

And I really don't know what I was basing this bet on. I really should do SOME research before making this sorts of bets! Oh well.

lkfja;sfj;k YES! Root for the US and I'll root for Germany tomorrow morning!!

We have a deal! :)))

Pretty good job of catching up, Tetley! :)

And I think I'm okay with having fallen back as long as Germany makes it to the final. (Together with the Netherlands or the US. Well, one can hope, right? *g*)

well, they're the raciest fleet of vans in the world

Aren't those guys amazing who made it all the way down to the cape in their vans? When did they start? Sometime in April, as far as I remember.

I was so angry when Netzer said something along the lines that the US team was simply bad, as everyone knew. It wasn't even true for the match he was referring to. The US are a fun team, they look like they enjoy playing and they did really well so far.

Ghana are very fast and very motivated. I hope for an exciting game.

I don't sleep half so soundly in a soccer stadium as in a baseball one.

Hehe. I've never been to a baseball game, and I'm glad to hear that I haven't missed anything. I've seen a lot of baseball movies on TV, but I never really got it.

Those fascists are simply stupid. Their arguments would be funny if they weren't so cringe-worthy. I especially liked the "ethnic antagonism" of England : Germany. But it's good to hear that soccer gets more and more popular in the US.

hahahaha I count 24, but it doesn't change results so don't worry. Maybe there's a match you missed without noticing.

And question, why does tjs_whatnot have to write a drabble?

[personal profile] bendleshnitz1 2010-06-27 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. I also counted Nigeria - South Korea. From group B.

Okay, *facepalm*
I wrote it down wrong in my fixture. So so sorry!
I swear I didn't do it on purpose.

I won't bother anymore. Primose. :)

[personal profile] bendleshnitz1 2010-06-27 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm still sorry. Looks like I'm correcting on purpose :(

Oh, where are you from? England?

[personal profile] bendleshnitz1 2010-06-28 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, we'll be "enemies" on Saturday then, lol

Yep, I know what you mean. When the referee makes such mistakes it's pretty shameful. For example, yesterday, Argentina's first goal was offside but the referee didn't see it and count it as a goal. The Mexicans were on fire and I totally understand why. Good thing we did two more goals, cause if we had won 1-0 I would have felt guilty.

No, I trust you. :) I just know my score because I have three bets going on at once and I'm keeping score of all (my brother is the cheater, you see? lol). If this would ahve been my only bet I would never know.
