Please comment to this entry with a working email address and state that you bet a drabble (one single mini-ficlet of about 100 - 500 words) before you place your bet. We will only count your bet if you have committed yourself to the betting game by leaving a comment.

Good luck!

In less than 48 hours, the first match of the Women's World Cup will start, and I just posted the bets on the first two individual matches on [info]hp_footballbets.

To participate in this part of the game, you don't have to bet a ficlet/drabble. Just fill out the polls. One point for each correct guess. We'll close each poll when the particular match starts and accumulate the points after the final. The winner(s) will receive a lovely banner for her profile page.

Please join us at [info]hp_footballbets!

(And don't forget the the betting pool on the Women's World Champion! You have two more days to bet a drabble!)

Have fun!

We created [info]hp_footballbets and invite you to another round of our drabble betting game. Please come over and join the fun:

miss_morland: (Default)
[personal profile] miss_morland
Recipient: [personal profile] kelly_chambliss
Title: Stubborn Creatures
Author: [personal profile] miss_morland
Pairing/Character(s): Minerva McGonagall/Wilhelmina Grubbly-Plank
Prompt: Option A: Choose any story of [Kelly's] and write a sequel/prequel/missing scene/different ending
Word Count: 787
Rating: G/PG
Warning(s): Unbetaed (feel free to point out any errors)
Summary: Sometimes all you have to do is wait.
Author's Notes: This is a sequel to Kelly's story "Still Waters", although it's considerably shorter. I may have made it too easy for myself with the resolution here, but hey -- it's just fanfic! (Of course, I still hope you'll like it, K.)

She was here now, and there was no getting out of it. )
vane_nt: Aquarius Camus, a Gold Saint from Saint Seiya. (Camus Saint Seiya)
[personal profile] vane_nt
Recipient: [personal profile] tetleythesecond
Title: Expect Full Success
Author: Vane
Character: Septima Vector
Prompt: The character and his or her dog.
Word Count: ~1,165
Rating: PG
Warning(s): (Highlight to read) Implied animal suffering.
Summary: Septima had always used Arithmancy to control most aspects of her dog's life. Now she uses the charts to try to save him.
Author's Notes: Story written for [personal profile] tetleythesecond, to pay a debt of honour at [community profile] hp_worldcup_bets. Many thanks, flowers and hugs to my lovely betas [livejournal.com profile] curia_regis and [personal profile] thamy! All remaining mistakes are mine.

Expect Full Success )
pale_moonlite: (Default)
[personal profile] pale_moonlite
Recipient: [personal profile] tetleythesecond
Title: Hoyotoho!
Author: [personal profile] pale_moonlite
Characters: Amelia Bones, Minerva McGonagall, Rolanda Hooch
Prompt: Opera
Word Count: 1,189
Rating: General Audiences
Warning: There wasn't time enough to get this beta'd (and it was supposed to be less than 500 words anyway). So if you spot any glaring mistakes, please give me a holler.
Summary: Amelia and Minerva visit the Bayreuth wizarding festival theatre to see a production of Wagner's Die Walküre.
Author's Notes: Dear Tetley, I let you know that it was completely the fault of your fascinating prompt that I nearly missed the deadline. Imagining wizarding productions of The Ring was simply too much fun, and not just a little bit distracting. Congratulations on winning the pool, and I hope you enjoy your prize!

queen_of_snapes: (fussballsnape)
[personal profile] queen_of_snapes

Recipient: [personal profile] kelly_chambliss
Title: The Line of Duty

Author: [personal profile] queen_of_snapes
Pairing/Character(s): McGonagall/Snape
Prompt: Fancy meeting you here
Word Count: 501
Rating: G
Warning(s): None, really.
Summary: Two people bumping into each other at night.

Author's Notes: This scene has been in my mind for quite a while, but I found it extremely difficult to write down. Hope you like it, Kelly! Congrats to you and Tetley!

[personal profile] bendleshnitz1
Recipient: [personal profile] kelly_chambliss
Title: Dark Owl
Author: [personal profile] bendleshnitz1 / [livejournal.com profile] bendleshnitz1
Pairing/Character(s): Minerva McGonagall/Amelia Bones
Prompt: A letter
Word Count: 322
Rating: G
Warning(s): Character death. Canon. Suggested femmeslash.
Summary: Minerva founds out about Amelia's death (could be considered a missing moment from HBP).
Author's Notes: I've only written McGonagall once before and it was almost a year ago. Hope it's not as bad as I think it is. And I had a blast participating in the community! It made the World Cup more exciting than it already is ;) Also, many thanks to my awesome beta, [livejournal.com profile] tania_sings

ysilme: Ink drawing of a writing quill. (Writing)
[personal profile] ysilme
Recipient: [personal profile] tetleythesecond , though it would have worked well enough for [personal profile] kelly_chambliss , too - I'm lucky to have a pairing both like!
Title: The Bet
Author: Alcina vom Steinsberg /[personal profile] ysilme / [livejournal.com profile] the_winterwitch
Pairing and prompt: Minerva, Severus and sports
Warnings: references to a weird culture, and probably dangerous things flying about
Word count: ~1200 *ahem* - I always was bad at maths
Summary: Snape has lost a bet to Minerva, with totally unexpected (and for the reader, I hope delicious) consequences.
Note: My heartfelt thanks go to [personal profile] therealsnape for fast and effective beta-reading, making short work of my abysmal punctuation and weeding out all my weird ways of writing English. Any remaining mistakes are my own.

I hope you like it, tetley!

shocolate: (Default)
[personal profile] shocolate
Recipient: [personal profile] kelly_chambliss
Title: Tenth Anniversary
Author: [personal profile] shocolate
Pairing/Character(s): Minerva and Rosmerta
Prompt: Tenth Anniversary
Word Count: 295
Rating: PG-13
Warning(s):
Summary: Um... ten years have passed since the Battle of Hogwarts... two women reminisce...
Author's Notes: Written for [personal profile] kelly_chambliss, who I have never even heard of - so I hope this is OK - for the [community profile] hp_worldcup_bets, where I ended up I-know-not-how, straying into a shippy area I am completely unused to - but they won the contest and predicted the World Cup champions, so I have to write a ficlet for them, as a prize.

Tenth Anniversary )
therealsnape: (default orange)
[personal profile] therealsnape
Title: The White Team versus Orange.
Author : [livejournal.com profile] therealsnape
Pairing and prompt : Rita / Poppy, Role reversal
Recipient : [livejournal.com profile] tetleythesecond, for outstanding knowledge of every aspect of football. With a tip of the wand to [livejournal.com profile] kellychambliss, for remarkable Legilimency in the NY subway.

No warnings : Just three good reasons not to click on the LJ- cut.

It isn’t beta’ed. I’ve the best betas in the world, but in this case they’re also the recipients.

It’s too long. 500 words of starched, white uniforms with, perhaps, a bit of Quill-tickling thrown in was what Tetley hoped for. 3k of waffling and a second-hand neck rub is what she gets. Ah, well. It’s an imperfect world we live in. If it weren’t, Holland would have beaten Germany in the finals.

And it’s OOC verging on the crack, but I’m not to blame. Tetley started it, Miss, she wanted to play at Role Reversal. And then it all just … happened. Liek whoah.

ETA: the bets on the identity of Rita's lover are open. He's canon. A banner for the first to guess correctly.
ETA 2: the bets are closed. Spoilers in the comments. And the winner was ... [livejournal.com profile] minervas_eule!

tjs_whatnot: (drunkeness--wasted minerva)
[personal profile] tjs_whatnot
Recipient: [personal profile] kelly_chambliss
Title: Sore Loser
Author: [personal profile] tjs_whatnot
Characters: Minerva McGonagall and Severus Snape
Word Count: 230
Rating: PG-13ish
Summary/Prompt: Snape/McGonagall A bet being paid/or debt owed
Author's Note: First time writing this pairing. I hope that won't be painfully obvious--or that it is unbeta'd, and also that I know nothing of football--which I'm sure actually is painfully obvious, hence this bet needing to be paid to start with.

... in three easy steps.

Dear [personal profile] aka, [personal profile] bendleshnitz1, [personal profile] miss_morland, [personal profile] queen_of_snapes, [personal profile] shocolate, [personal profile] therealsnape, [personal profile] tjs_whatnot, [personal profile] vane_nt, [personal profile] ysilme and [personal profile] pale_moonlite, it's time to pay our debts of honor.

We're ten losers lucky people who will have the pleasure to write a drabble for one of two even luckier people, namely [personal profile] kelly_chambliss or [personal profile] tetleythesecond, who won the betting pool.

Let the fun begin!

Step 1: Claim two prompts (+ pairing/character), one from Kelly's list and one from Tetley's. I will assign you one prompt. That way I want to make sure that they both get their equal share.

Step 2: Write a drabble of about 100 - 500 words.

Step 3: Post it to [community profile] hp_worldcup_bets not later than August 11, using the header template below. I set the community's posting access to anybody, so you don't have to become a member to do so.

Eight matches before the end, have another update of The Statistics. [personal profile] vane_nt is still in front, now with 33 correct guesses. Yours truly follows with 30, and [personal profile] bendleshnitz1 with 29 (though the distance between us is bound to change soon because I trust we'll be betting on different teams next Saturday /g/.) Tied for fourth place are now [personal profile] shocolate and [personal profile] ysilme with 25, then follows [personal profile] tjs_whatnot with 24 and [personal profile] pale_moonlite with 23.

I wish all of you a good regeneration phase before the quarterfinals! :)
